Cornwall Media Focus and O-Region will be holding an extra-special screening of the hottest new surf film of the summer - Substance, by up-and-coming director Anthony Butler, better known to the surfing community as Mr B. It’s not even out on general release yet, so this is your chance to catch it way before anyone else!
This hour-long surf epic is the long-awaited follow-up to Mr B’s much admired debut Performing Monkeys. Described by Wavelength magazine as quite possibly “the best home-grown surf movie ever”, Substance follows the adventures of a crew of UK surfers who travel the length and breadth of Britain in search of the perfect wave.
And as if that’s not enough, the film will also be showing alongside a hand-picked selection of world-class short films from Future Shorts, the UK’s most innovative short film label. This special summer programme will be touring some of the country’s top music festivals in August, but we’ve got a special sneak preview for our Cornish audiences.
The Substance + Future Shorts event will take place at Carruan Farm, inside the fabulous outdoor marquee erected for the current Footsbarn production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
