New Media - New Opportunities
Don't miss this ground-breaking Cornwall Media Focus event on Wednesday 20th April. An exciting last minute addition to the Cornwall Media Focus slate of events - a shared event with Digital Peninsula Network at Newlyn Art Gallery from 7 - 9pm on Wednesday 20th April. One of the hot topics of the recent Cornwall Film Forum was how film, animation and TV practitioners in Cornwall could best collaborate with new media practitioners to exploit the growing links between the moving image and new media. There was passionate talk of alternative models and platforms for distribution online and elsewhere, interactive websites, the potential of digital film, and viral marketing campaigns... As a result, Cornwall Media Focus and Digital Peninsula Network are hosting an informal panel discussion on how all this new technology might be harnessed to grow your business. Cornwall Film's new project is now open to new media companies as well as film and TV practitioners. This is a unique chance to meet others working in new media, film and TV in Cornwall - to develop stronger links with other sectors – and be inspired to take your work to the next level. The event will be chaired by Jemima Gibbons of Interactive Knowhow (www.interactiveknowhow.co.uk) and the panel will feature: Patrick von Sychowski, director of business development for Unique Digital. Unique Digital run the largest network(s) of digital screens in Europe and are the technology partner of Carlton Screen Advertising in UK and Ireland Martin Gaunt of Oscha Productions – based in Penryn, Oscha work for broadcast, corporate and new media clients. Passionate about the potential of alternative DVD distribution, Martin recently managed to create new distribution networks for Oscha’s documentary Marine Team. Danny Fleet - a director of production company Hotspur & Argyle, Danny has worked with almost every major advertising agency in London and many more in Europe and North America. His production expertise and pioneering work in viral film production and digital content creation led him to set up Contentment in 2003. The panel discussion will be followed by a chance to drink and meet others working in film, TV and new media. Entry to this event is FREE to Cornwall Media Focus members and to Digital Peninsula Members. It is £5 to everyone else.
