University College Falmouth - Business Relations Unit
FCA - Business Unit has fitted out the second floor of the Media Centre at Tremough campus, as a dedicated incubator / hot desk / commercial area. Facilities available are an AVID Express 5.8 with DV Recorders Deck, DVD recorder deck, J30 Player Deck (for Beta SP, SX, and Digi Beta). A further Avid Express will become available if demand requires it. A miniDV camera kit is available with PD170, 2 radio mikes, boom mic, 16:9 converter, wide angle, tripod, and a 3 light dedo kit. On order at the moment is an industry standard SQN field mixer. The hot desk area has been kitted out with four computers and phones and the whole floor has its own access separate to teaching area of the Media Centre.
Setting up these facilities is a process that is still ongoing - FCA are working out pricing structures at the moment, which will be on the cheap side of competitive. This is in line with the principles we work to in Business Relations, where anything FCA does has the aim of adding value to Cornish companies and to the economy of the county. Basically FCA wants to see work happening in Cornwall, and think this equipment and these facilities can help that happen. However anyone using the camera equipment will need to show adequate insurance in advance.
